The Republic of China, Taiwan also known as ‘Emerald Isle’ is located between Japan and Philippines. The island of Taiwan is nearly as large in area as Kerela, with a total area of 36,000 square kilometers and a population of 23 million, as large as Haryana’s. Its capital Taipei city features an enchanting amalgam of western and Chinese traditions and lifestyles. Taiwan is a sovereign multiparty democracy. The official language of Taiwan is Mandarin. In many ways its culture is similar to that of India where family values, hard work and respect for elders is have the same emphasis as the soaring GDP that  is 1/3rd of India’s. The country is a beautiful mix of the old with the new as well as technology and high tech products along with traditional handicrafts.
